Key beneficiaries are Lithium Batteries (LIB) manufacturers, (CRM) waste collection and treatment facilities, policymakers and public authorities particularly related to green mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Objectives\">Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">ReLi-ion aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Transfer a state-of-the-art LIB recycling technology mix to Eastern and Southern European (ESSE) recyclers, improving the EU supply of secondary CRMs and closing the loop for EV value chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Develop an integrated B2B collection, treatment, and supply network for LIB CRMs, to support EU LIB manufacturers, bolstering the European battery recycling value chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Establish a collaborative R&amp;D University-Business Cooperation platform that will a) act as a commercialisation vehicle for the project to translate its R&amp;D results into larger projects for which additional capital will be attracted and b) diffuse and support with further R&amp;D the project-promoted technologies to businesses beyond the partnership.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/reli-ion.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/pexels-alex-11951153-2-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-487\" width=\"768\" height=\"489\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This photo was taken by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pexels.com\/photo\/a-black-battery-case-on-a-red-e-bike-in-close-up-shot-11951153\/\" target=\"_blank\">pexels<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"TechnologicalSolution\">Technological Solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-text-color has-background wp-block-list\" style=\"color:#eeeeee;background-color:#004393\">\n<li>Increased LIB recycling capacity in the ESEE region<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>~7% improvement of selected waste stream (NMC and LFP) treatment efficiency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>~60% of NMC and LFP waste supply increased availability in the ReLi-ion countries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>~10% of materials gain for Li and Co CRMs during the project as a result of the ReLi-ion improved recycling capacity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7-10% recycling capacity increase and supply chain build-up during the project duration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" id=\"Activities\">Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Showcasing of the ReLi-ion innovative recycling approach, tailored to the partnership operators\u2019 existing capacities, in order to efficiently treat mixed NMC and LFP waste in the same recycling process. In addition to waste treatment, partners will demonstrate CRM recovery capacities according to the ReLi-ion technology practices, documenting recycling gains.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identifying market needs and opportunities in consortium countries, through mapping the situation regarding Li-ion battery waste supply and CRM demand in each ESEE participating country and matchmaking and liaising with key actors in territorial LIB recycling value chains.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expanding the potential for industrial LIB recycling potential and the overall business case of the project, through the development of a detailed commercialization strategy to facilitate the transition to full-scale commercial diffusion of the ReLi-ion technology.
